Teaching Philosophy
Read my resume, it’s pretty good but more importantly; I am a Singer.
I was trained by teachers who had major careers and all of them taught an intense vocal technique that enabled me to have a career. My technique is based in different methods, all to be directly applied to a career on stage.
I learned style and projection from Ricardo DiGiuseppe at Juilliard, and from previous teachers I learned the vocal scales and breath support I still use today.
I take the technique and directly apply it to the repertoire of each particular student. You learn how to sing a song as technically perfect as you can and still tell your story.
For women, I teach a very Legit Head Voice, a healthy and strong chest voice and have developed the Mix that is imperative in the Music Theatre repertoire. Whether this is a chest voice mix or a head voice mix, each voice is different, individual and I treat them as such.
For Men, I teach a strong approach to breath support using the entire body. In addition, I teach a good falsetto and develop the vocal range that is needed for Music Theatre.
There is no One technique for everyone. Each person has an individual and distinct voice and each student in my Studio is treated differently depending on their voice and their needs.
For those interested in a more classical technique and repertoire, I can easily help you with this journey. I spent the majority of my career in Opera and Concert work and know this style and repertoire. American singers should know both styles as we are expected to be able to sing Mozart and Rodgers and Hammerstein in the same concert.
Knowing how to read music and understanding your road map is significantly important. Be a smart musician and a singer. We will incorporate theory into each lesson so that you understand every aspect of your song.
Singing is Sharing. Without the Share, your are Not a Singer. Style, Interpretation and Body awareness will be a part of the lesson. A big question; “what do I do with my arms”? We will figure it out.
It takes more than just a pretty face and a pretty voice. It takes the entire Body, Soul and Mind.
Let’s Sing!
Sing with Me!🎶
